Emsella

Emsella

Emsella is a non-invasive method of treating urinary incontinence approved by the FDA. It uses a high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) to stimulate muscle contractions in the entire pelvic floor-the layer of muscles stretching beneath the bladder, uterus, and bowels-and neuromuscular control. Increasing the strength of your deep pelvic floor muscles can also help you regain bladder control.

During an Emsella treatment, patients sit fully clothed on the Emsella chair (sometimes called the Kegel throne) for 30 minutes. During a single session, electromagnetic energy is emitted from the seat of the chair, causing your pelvic muscles to contract 11,200 times involuntarily. These contractions are painless but more powerful than regular Kegel exercises.

FAQs

Women at any age can benefit from the Emsella if they have issues with urinary incontinence and want to improve their quality of life.

After the first session, you'll notice improvements in incontinence. It's common for patients to feel the most results after three to six sessions, though you may find that your symptoms get worse before they start getting better due to some initial muscle fatigue of the pelvic floor.

After the treatment, your results are likely to last for about six months before you'll need maintenance treatment, though it's possible you can extend them if you do daily Kegel exercises at home, which mimic pelvic floor muscle contractions. During the initial six treatments, you should be doing your daily Kegels, which Emsella should help you do at a stronger and more sustained rate.

Emsella is a non-invasive procedure that requires no preparation or recovery time. No downtime is required.
